Finals and second year of law school are over! It was a long three weeks of sitting and typing. I can no longer move my head from side to side, and my apartment looks destroyed. But it's done, and I'm ready for a great summer. More, I can't wait to get in the kitchen and make something fresh and delicious.
Here are snaps I took along the way-any student cramming for finals will find these images familiar. Note the lack of (1) people and (2) sun (save for Peep and Mushrooms).
Toolkit: Painters have paintbrushes and canvas. Law students have post-its, earplugs, and packaged foods.
Coffee is a meal substitute.
Flowers are best at the start of finals, when you still have time to give them water and appreciation. Once you're in week 3, toss 'em in the trash.
When you tire of your desk, make another one. 
Download desktop calendars from your favorite blogger because this is the only sign of life you'll see for a while.
This is the most elaborate cooking I could muster: Breakfast of steel cut oats, parmesan, cracked black pepper, and a slow pour of good olive oil.
My boyfriend was good enough to plop a homemade meal on top of my desk: Soba noodles, miso soup with soft tofu, seaweed, black cod, and daikon radish.

I came home after an exam to find this little peep outside my door. Ten minutes later, peep was still there, helpless. I went inside my apartment, heard a shrill CHEEP CHEEP, came outside, and saw a giant black crow carrying little peep away, momma bird chasing. Surreal.
After seeing Peep disappear, I came back to find that mushrooms had grown overnight in my mint pot.
Considering this was the final push, the desk doesn't look too bad. Energy drinks, coffee, water-check. Post-its-check. G-Chat commiseration-double check.
