Ok, I know I predicted the next post would be about herb gardening, but this caught my eye.
I adore Marni for Fall 2011. Given my love-hate approach to fashion (for another time), this verb is intentional! The collection flaunts all my favorite fashion attributes: comfort, proportion, texture (more visual than tactile), tailoring, and elegance. The models, too, are beautiful because they are unfussy. They remind me of the young women in Barcelona who would step off their scooters and pull off their helmets to reveal perfect, tousled hair-not a helmet head to be seen!
Here are some of my favorites. [Photos courtesy of Style.com. Additional closeup shots here by Scott Schuman.]

Proportion and Pattern
I like the big black splotches; they suggest a giant paintbrush.

Somewhat austere, but it drapes well.
Ok, on second thought, if I stare at it too long,
it looks like a blanket.

pattern and asymmetry
(and adore the shoes)

This one screams all sorts of things at me,
including Miami, Grandma, and pajamas.
I am really liking the fit of these coats.
Roomy but still feminine and tailored.

Yes, please! What an antidote to the
clingy, self-conscious outfits out there.

Color.
Mahogany furniture,
an old personal library with dusty books,
heavy drapes, the parlor.
A nap in the window seat.

Can you please design this to look good
on a vertically challenged female?
